PRACTICING THE BASICS

Good day, this blog post comes from an experience that I had in my Martial Arts class last week, that brought about the realization that no matter how advanced “you think you are” you can always benefit from going back to the basics. I have been practicing martial arts in one form or another since 1985. This week when I went to my JKD class, my long time instructor started the class by going over the basic punches. We practiced the jab, the cross, the hook, and the uppercut.  Throughout each punch, my instructor went over the mechanics, where the body is supposed to be, what your footwork should entail, etc. When we went over the hook, I realized that somehow, I had lapsed into throwing arm punches instead of putting my body behind the punch. It was a humbling experience since I have been doing this punch incorrectly for many years now. In my mind, I thought that I should have known better, but in retrospect when I think about it, I have not practiced basic punching for a long time.  I have been concentrating on advanced trapping, and combinations, thinking that I “knew” the basics already. Somehow though, either I got lazy or a bad habit crept in and my foundation was ignored and it just built and built until suddenly I was doing the technique incorrectly.
The same goes for The Law of Attraction. I have not practiced The Law of Attraction as long as I have practiced martial arts, so I have not had the chance to become lackadaisical in practicing the basics, but I wanted to bring this point up where most of the readers of this blog may be beginners in using LOA, so that your foundation is strong and good habits are developed early on.
No matter how far you go with using The Law of Attraction,  it is advantageous to come back to the basics frequently. Review what LOA is all about. Review the basics of visualization. Take some needed time to concentrate on your visualization. Get yourself in a quiet place, and really really concentrate with all 5 senses. How often do actually use all of your senses in your visualization during your routine day? The basics are the foundation and there is nothing more important than doing this because to do this correctly means success, and it means everything that you ever wanted. So it is important to get back to the basics. Imagine if the foundation of the building you work in or live in was not solid? Need I say more?
Click on the basics posts on the right side of the main page and go back and review the foundations of how to use The Law of Attraction and see if you have been missing or omitting some steps? Evaluate your techniques and also evaluate how much success have you had recently with using LOA to succeed? Could there be room for improvement by using the basics and concentrating like it was the first time you have learned about LOA? You bet there is.
This type of introspection allows many successful people reevaluate their goals, and techniques and make subtle changes needed to continue on with their success in other areas of their lives. People do this type thing for performance, exercise, home building projects, big work projects, but not for their self-development. Ironically it is in the area of self-development that most of the foundation for your success in other areas stems from.
I hope you enjoyed this post and it made you think a bit. Feel free to share this and as always here is to your success.
